Is server search not working in the game?

Is the game giving you errors:

• "Could not contact master game server to retrieve server list." - Unable to connect to the master server to retrieve the server list.
• "Unable to determine Master Server addresses. Server Browser will not function correctly." - Unable to determine the master server address.
  Or is there simply a very short server list?

You need to fix the master server!

What is a master server and why is it needed?

If you are trying to find a server in the "Internet" tab of the game, the master server used affects what you will be able to find. So, if your game has stopped finding servers or you want to search for servers from the monitoring directly in the game, you simply install our master server into your game and enjoy.

Here is the address of our Master Server:

• 194.87.101.97:27010
  OR
• ms.gs4u.net:27010

However, as far as we know, not every version of Counter-Strike can work with domain names.

Steps to Install the Master Server

1. Check Your Counter-Strike Installation:

   • You may need to install a specific build of Counter-Strike, but most often you already have Counter-Strike installed.
   • If you need to install it, do so first, then proceed with the steps below.

2. Download and Prepare the Files:

   • Download the archive: MasterServers.zip
   • Open the archive.
   • If Counter-Strike is running, close it.

3. Replace the Master Server File:

   • Navigate to the folder: [PATH_TO_COUNTER-STRIKE]/platform/config/
   • If you see the file MasterServers.vdf, delete it.
   • Copy the downloaded MasterServers.vdf from the archive to the folder [PATH_TO_COUNTER-STRIKE]/platform/config/
   • It's recommended to set the properties of the copied file to "read-only".

Note:

If you have Counter-Strike from Steam, unfortunately, there is currently no information on how to add your own master server.
